10pm Superior: we need an extra MO to Permai Hospital urgently.
17/3
7am Received call from superior
7.30am Packing luggage
8.30am Leave to Permai
10.30am Report at Permai
It's my first day reporting myself to Permai Hospital, hospital for Covid patient. And guess what, I was welcomed with the news of first death in Johor literally 5 mins after I was briefed by my team. Yes, if anyone of you are curious about the situation now. It's havoc, it's bad, it's real now.
People are being upset the lockdown of Malaysia. I know you're healthy and think is unnecessary. But on the other side of world that you don't see, we're screening hundreds of people everyday now and having hundreds of confirmed cases daily. And there's people dying, not just the old one, but the young one, leaving young children behind. As young and fit like us.
And one of the most difficult part is to do contact tracing because of the mobility of people. And right now I'm sure there's many infected people who's not diagnosed yet and keep spreading the virus to people surrounding them. Please Malaysian, we need a favour from you. The current lockdown is only 2 weeks, which is the incubation period of the virus and enough for us to identified those who's infected previously if they stop contacting other people from now. And the contact tracing (which is just the family members) will be a lot easier. Please just stay at home, yumcha at home, no more outdoor jogging, opening your shop unnecessary or religious praying together-gether. Can we just please do this for 14 days? If we can adhere to this and identified and isolate all the cases, then the chances of un-lockdown will be higher and sooner.
People have been complaining why are we not screening them when they've symptoms. If we could, we will want to screen everyone. But our manpower and resources are getting limited now that's why there's only people who fulfil the criteria will get screened (but you can always pay to screen at private). So please stay home, will you? I know you're not scare of dying, so do I. That's why here am I working as a frontliner. But my sister cried when she knew I'm going. I was shocked and I told her I'll keep myself safe. Is your love one ready for you to die as well? If not, stay home while you can. (because I can't)
I've received lots of blessings and wishes from friends who know I'm called to be a frontliner. And know what, the biggest blessings to us is to stay healthy, stay safe and stay home. We're not blaming anyone so please let's not blame anyone but be a part of this. I can't save the world, but I am doing my little part to help the situation , and if you're with me, please do your part too and show the Malaysian spirit.
It's a difficult situation, that's why we need more gratitude than grumbles.
Be grateful if you've saved enough to go through this tough time, some people don't and perhaps you can lend a hand
Be grateful if you need to rest from work, some people don't even have job
Be grateful if you're asked to self quarantine, some people are quarantine in the hospital with no one
Be grateful if you're quarantined but still fit, someone just didn't make it today
Be grateful if your family is far but still healthy and fit, some people lost their father today
Be grateful you can stay home with family and have family bonding, some people, us are out there working day in day out in the hospital.
And we're grateful Malaysian can play a part as Malaysian now.
Malaysia need you.
We need you.

A dog was mistakenly sailed from Thailand to Hong Kong. As it arrived Hong Kong on the 12th March, the Agriculture Fisheries and Conservation Department of Hong Kong received the dog. The owner of the dog soon knew that the dog was found and was ready to travel to Hong Kong and bring it home. Legislator Roy Kwong immediately contacted the AFCD expressing concern to ensure the dog is safe. Yet the AFCD replied today (13th March) that the dog was euthanised within 1 day.
The AFCD did not conduct any investigation and soon decided to kill the dog, ignoring the criteria and guidelines of animal euthanasia. The decision shows how cruel the AFCD is. According to the department, there is no microchip found in the dog. They are unable to retrieve any information about the health condition nor medical record of the dog. It doesn’t take them long to decide the fate of the dog.
We believe that if the dog traveled to any other cities in the world, none of them would come up with the decision as the one made in Hong Kong. The AFCD was creating an international scandal in this case. We urge the AFCD to apologise for this irresponsible and ridiculous action taken and give an account of such issue to the public.
Please sign and share this petition, we need to speak up for the poor dog.

1. 為可仁進行骨髓移植後的免疫治療;

【Fundraising Campaign Completed on 3 December 2018】According to CUHK Alumni Charity Foundation, the fundraising campaign for Mark CHEUNG Ho Yan has completed. The fund raised will be used to support the immunotherapy of Mark and 6 other patients who are suffered from the same disease. Thank you for all your kind-hearted support and generosity.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(2018/11/22)
This is an urgent appeal for your generosity to save the life of the 17-month-old son of Dr. CHEUNG Chun Kit, our medical alumnus of Class 2000.
Dr. Cheung Chun Kit is a CUHK medical graduate of Year 2000. His younger son, Cheung Ho Yan Mark, has recently been diagnosed to have Stage IV Neuroblastoma in November 2018, and is in an emergency need of donation to provide the necessary funding to support the life-saving yet expensive immunotherapy.
Mark was presented to his paediatrician for fever and cough in late October 2018. His cough resolved with treatment but his fever never completely went away. Two days prior to his diagnosis, Mark was more clingy than usual and did not like to walk. On a video clip, Mark was noted to have foot drop, a very significant red flag which may indicate a compression on the spinal cord. Emergency scans were immediately performed that night, and Mark was found to have a large tumour on the left side of his abdomen. The aggressive tumour had already spread silently to the back of his skull, his spine, his hips and had compressed his nerves which control his lower limbs, resulting in pain on standing and difficulty in walking. Mark is facing an imminent risk of paralysis.
Mark is diagnosed to have a rare childhood cancer which is called Stage IV neuroblastoma, a cancer which typically presents at late stage because it arises deep in the abdomen. To cure his aggressive cancer, Mark needs to survive through rounds of intensive chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, bone marrow transplant, and finally, immunotherapy. The whole treatment duration lasts 1.5 to 2 years. To completely eradicate all cancer cells, immunotherapy will be needed to boost Mark’s survival from 20% to 50%. However, immunotherapy is a self-financed treatment in the public hospital and the treatment costs could be up to 2 million.
Such close encounter with death is not the first time for Mark. At the first week of life, Mark was diagnosed to have a rare heart problem called “Coarctation of Aorta”. Mark had received life-saving surgery to reestablish the blood flow across his aorta, the major blood vessel that allows blood to go from the heart to the brain and the rest of the body. In a report published in 2002, only 67 cases with dual heart condition and neuroblastoma were reported, giving an odd of 1 in 100 million for a child to be hit by these two rare diseases. Scientists have not yet completely understood the mechanisms that may cause the two conditions to appear in a single child.
It never rains but pours that Mark’s elder brother, now 5 years old, was diagnosed to have autism at around age 2. To enable the elder brother to have intensive training to improve his outcome and development, Mark’s mommy quit her job as a primary school teacher since the diagnosis of autism was made for his elder brother. Dr. Cheung, who is a medical doctor for the elderly, became the sole bread-winner of his family.
CUHK Medical Graduates of Year 2000 have initiated a fund-raising campaign for Mark and his family with the following two objectives:
1. To appeal for donation to support the costs of immunotherapy for Mark
2. To increase the public awareness on the grave needs of children with cancers
